DeadpoolDespite this month's DVD debut of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," things have been relatively quiet regarding the film's most mouthy (or in this case, mouthless) supporting character Wade Wilson, better known to fans as Deadpool.

Now if the excited posts on Deadpool co-creator Robert Liefeld's Twitter page are any indication, the project could be healthier than ever.

"Great Deadpool movie meeting! Lauren Shuler Donner and her team are headed in the right direction!" Liefeld Tweeted last night.

Shuler Donner, known for her involvement in nearly every aspect of the "X" franchise, has been making the media rounds of late, recently alerting the press to the possibility of a "New Mutants" film, based on the Marvel comic where Deadpool made his first appearance.

Liefeld seemed keyed in to some of the core concepts behind Deadpool's character, namely what fans found missing from his first incarnation as "Weapon XI."

"Deadpool movie checklist- DP in costume-check! Breaking 4th wall-check! Loads of killing-double check!" wrote Liefeld.

Of course, Liefeld also seemed to verify to his followers that the upcoming "Green Lantern" star Ryan Reynolds is still poised to reprise his "Origins" role as the Merc With A Mouth.

"Deadpool movie- YES! Ryan Reynolds is on board!!!" wrote Liefeld.

Not one to leave out mention of his other famous contribution to the X-Men stable of characters, Liefeld also brought up Cyclops' son from the future (and sometime unwilling Deadpool accomplice) for a potential film appearances by tweeting, "Also excited to discuss possibilities of Cable in future X-films!!!"

Nothing is set in stone until cameras start to roll, but judging from Liefeld's enthusiasm, future "X-Men" spinoffs could see their share of pouch-laden protagonists.

Excited for a potentially more comics-accurate Deadpool movie offering? What do you think of Liefeld's involvement in the project? Make with the mouthing in the comments.
